What more needs to be said about this legendary game? The SNES quickly became the console of choice due to landing the conversion of the popular coin-op beat-em-up of legends. Import shops across the country were taking orders for this title for £120 upwards.
Even today this game stands up as the classic it is. Every character memorable in their own right. The ability to have a tense battle and have it end with a double-KO! This genre was exploited to the fullest during the Super Nintendo's lifetime but for me nothing came close to the Street Fighter. What a game!
With the benefit of hindsight we cannot award this 5/5 as if you are prepared to wait then SF Turbo is a better choice due to the speed selection and the fact you can play as the 4 boss characters. Eventually Super Street Fighter 2 will most more than likely arrive on the VC also which is probably the best of the lot.
PAL gamers: It appears that the borders are reduced in this compared to the original PAL SNES release, but it still runs slower than the NTSC version. You are best advised to wait for the release of SF2 Turbo which has a speed selection option. This is like playing Street Fighter underwater!!

Another classic arcade collectible. Get it to have it and play whenever you have the urge to 'shruiuken.'

The only reason I won't regret getting this is if they release Turbo: Hyper Fighting or Super SSII. This is rubbish in comparison, you can't even play as Sagat or any of the other 'bosses'.

I love this game! One of my fav games ever. I was so jel of the SNES when they got this game as I only had the megadrive at the time and I had to wait till Championship ed. I have to say i havent noticed it being slow at all. I play this all the time my fav on VC.

funny that in Europe and stuff the last guys name is balrog, in the US balrog is the boxer and M. Bison is the last guy. One of my friends back in the day had the chinese or japanese version because his dad was in the army and he lived over seas and we would always call shenanigans on the game because Balrog is the boxer, not the last guy

Bamboo, Balrog was never the name of the last guy. U.S. Bison = Jp Vega. U.S. Vega = Jp Balrog. U.S. Balrog = Jp Bison. Thats the way its always been.

SNES-Fans know what Street Fighter II was back then.
The best fighting game! This was once the best!! Classic sure!
Download it? Heh heh.. only if you liked the music more than in the other versions and must not play as balrog, vega, sagat, bison.
When it was new: 5 Stars!
And now? I personally would say wait at least for Super Street Fighter II. It had much better overall graphics (while these sure aren't bad) and the double amount of fighters. 3 Stars!

I've had enough of waiting, should I just go ahead and download it? I don't mind the slowness to be honest, as long as it's not stupidly slow..

Compared to SSFII: TNC, this game is very slow and the low amount of fighters to pick from is almost laughable.
World Warrior. I don't believe I can recommend this game.
I can however recommend SSFII: TNC.
