Hogan's Alley (Nintendo Entertainment System)

Hogan's Alley

Despite being rather short on story and depth, this game was nevertheless fairly popular. The game flashes three cardboard cut-outs of a mixture of bad guys and innocent civilians. The player needs to react quickly and shoot the thugs while sparing the bystanders and other friendlies (such as police officers). The game gets more difficult and faster as it progresses.

The player never escalates to shooting real thugs and gangsters, but the scenery changes from a blank wall to a city scene with the cardboard cutouts. The game is available only as a standard upright. The controls consist of a single light gun. This was a rather novel input device for a game of its time and added to its appeal.

This is a light-gun based game so should be quite good fun using the Wiimote to play with.

Wow, I'm not sure if I would shell out 5 bucks for this game. This doesn't seen like a game that would age well. If they can somehow manage to utilize the Wii's controls then maybe.

Another one of the more famous NES lightgun games. Simple, addictive fun to utilise the Zapper that came with your NES once you'd got sick of Duck Hunt.

My two gripes are that the Zapper was one of the reasons NES lightgun games were so much fun, it far and away the best lightgun of the era. Secondly, this game is very simple, there's not much there to be honest, not 500 points worth of value anyway.

If you ask me, Nintendo should have bundled all the light gun games for the NES together (maybe not the ropey Operation Wolf clone) and charged us 800 credits for the lot.

I'm sure this will be compatible with the new Wii Zapper.

"I guess this is one of the best NES Zapper Games."

Yeah, it's always been my favorite. Just pure shooting gallery fun.

And Rossi, unlike most early NES games, the 3 games offered in this one are 3 completely different games offering completely different experiences. Game A and B may use the same engine, but does so in such a different way that they come off as different, and Game C has nothing to do with anything else on the cart (except, well, it's a light gun game).
