Mario's been involved in some pretty wild adventures of late what with the Nintendo Super Mario series, but with this all-new puzzle game, Mario's moved into medicine!
And a good thing he has too, because one of the experiments in the Mushroom Kingdom Hospital has gone drastically wrong and horrid viruses are spreading everywhere!
Luckily good old Mario has developed a super vitamin with which to combat the menace - but he needs your help in dealing with the molecular meanies!

Who can't love a good puzzle game like this? The older systems did not lack in puzzle games but this is one of the many that was shining at the top. Can't wait to download it.

Dr. Mario is the most kick butt puzzle game ever! Tetris pales in comparison as this game is designed for two player excitement. If you get combinations you pile your garbage on the other player. The gameplay is simple, the excitement is never ending. My wife's entire family had championship tournaments when they lived at home, and occasionally they still break out the old NES to have Dr. Mario Tournaments!

One of the greatest games of all time and prob the greatest puzzle game (alongside Magic Jewelry, the predecessor to Columns).
When I was staying in University residence, this game became like a religion. Everybody was playing it all the time (and it's not like other games weren't around, they had a snes and a genesis that nobody played, yet this game managed to become popular with everyone). There was seldom an hour in the day when someone wasn't playing this game in some common room (I remember hearing people playing it at like 5am on like a Monday or Tuesday)... The only times it was shut off was for buffy and x-files (lol).
I think I've logged in more hours playing this game than any other (including rpgs like final fantasy 1/2(4)/3(6) and dragon warrior 1/2/3/4) and yet I have still haven't made it past level 22 on medium speed....
If you like puzzle games, do yourself a favor and pick this one up as soon as it comes out. You may not be into at first, but after playing it with some friends, you will be a dr. mario addict in no time...
I heard that there's a 4 player version out for the N64. It's too bad they didn't released that one instead.

For me, this is definitely the biggest puzzle game ever. I got hooked at my baby sitter's when I was little, because my mom and her would duke it out when she came to pick me up. I have it for the SNES (Tetris/Dr. Mario), but I'm very willing to buy this puppy again. Two player battles for the win!
Oh, and I think I made it to level 27 before dying (after a while, they just can't add any more viruses, so the levels just repeat).

I've really only played the 64 version, and I must say, my friends and I have more fun with this than any other party games, with WarioWare & MarioKart 64 coming in a close second. The four player head-on mode is some of the most intense, tournament-style playing we've played in a game.
I'm personally equally happy & upset that Dr. Mario is being released for the virtual console. Happy because it's still a good game, but upset in that it's the old NES version! The Wii is such a great platform for party/multiplayer/tournament-style games, it's sad to see Nintendo isn't taking further advantage of this. Although, they do have MarioKart 64, which was a great decision, of course!
Is there a place to make suggestions to Nintendo what to consider releasing? Or make, perhaps, a kind of petition? Speaking strictly for great multiplayer 64 games, I would personally LOVE to see Dr. Mario 64 for the virtual console, as well as maybe Bomberman 64, (and this next one might be a pipe dream) Goldeneye!
Between the Wii games themselves as well as some of the games I mentioned above possibly being released for the virtual console, I know I would have friends over to play Wii every night possible!

A seriously large reason for my ability to talk the significant other into getting a Wii was the promise that Dr. Mario would be available for it. It's like crack in our household. I've had friggin dreams about this game.
For the love of God, release this game!

My entire extended family is obsessed with this game, we play the 64 version at every get together and it is the only reason I still have my NES hooked up. My wife and I play it all the time. It is one of the first games ever that I've seen non-gamers love to play.

My wife and I spent countless hours playing Dr. Mario when we first got married. It was my wedding present to her and she loved it. When we got a Wii, I sold our SNES and games because Dr. Mario was supposedly coming out on the VC. When will this be released?!?! Please nintendo.

No... I wouldn't say its more fun than Tetris personally. It annoys me to hell after a few stages when there are lots of viruses on screen. Music is cool and catchy though.

A puzzler's dream. I spent months on this game on GameBoy. So addicting!
I always wanted "Dr. Mario 64" (N64) which wasn't released in Europe.
"Tetris & Dr. Mario" (SNES) is also a very nice double package.
Five Stars indeed. But then there is Nintendos cashcow.. I see it coming! With the NES version!! I'll give it 4 Stars while I save my 5 Stars for the N64 and/or SNES versions of this game which got enhancements like 4-Player-Mode and Tetris.

I want the classic game with the old skool graphics and music, not the wiiware version, the graphics and music are what make it dr.mario and not just another puzzle game. They didn't even make the graphics look any better, they only smoothed them out and replaced mario with those generic looking miis which are just bubble stick people.
