Earthworm Jim 2 (Sega Megadrive)

Earthworm Jim 2

In Earthworm Jim, an ordinary average earthworm named Jim went about his normal daily life, cruising around avoiding crows and doing other general worm-like things. Jim was suddenly struck by a very large ultra- high- tech- indestructible- super- space- cyber- suit. Through sheer luck, Jim rested safely in the neck ring of the suit.

Suddenly, the ultra-high-tech space particles of the suit began interacting with Jim's soft wormy flesh. A radical light-speed evolution took place. Jim soon realized he was in control of the suit.

After defeating Queen Slug-for-a-Butt in the first game, Jim continued to live a peaceful life, until Princess-What's-Her-Name was kidnapped by Psy-Crow. Now he must rescue her again.

Gameplay is similar to the first game, with Jim jumping and running through the levels. There are 5 weapons more than the original game to collect.

Status: Announced by Interplay

After Earthworm Jim became a smash hit, obviously a sequel just had to be made. It's got similar gameplay but also introduces some rather annoying and difficult levels that don't involve platforming.

I really liked this game and while I do admit it is probably worse than the first since it tends to be more of a puzzler than a platformer...(I just beat it on hard the other day and I'm thinking at least 50% of the game is non-platforming) it still is some fun. Very hard though, but...I might have to review this as this is a odd game to talk about.

I got the Saturn version and its not as great as the first special edition though the music is great (and sounds much better)!

I'll probably get this, but I wish it were the SNES version instead. The music sounds a lot better in the SNES version.

These games were crazy. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing them on the VC

Excellent game, and a lot more forgiving than the first one. I actually like the music better in the MD version, doesn't have that awful reverb on some instruments. If you could skip the mini-game, I would've given it 5/5.
