Bonanza Bros (Sega Megadrive)

Bonanza Bros

Mobo and Robo Bonanza are enjoying their favorite television show when the picture crackles and the shadowy figure of a mysterious stranger appears on screen. This figure asks them to collect certain items that he has placed inside various buildings to test his security force. If they return the items successfully, Mobo and Robo will be rewarded.

The two of them agree to get the job done in just three minutes, however, they don't know yet that each building is packed with security guards who will raise the alarm if they are caught red-handed and a huge reward will be given out if Mobo and Robo are apprehended.

Fortunately both Mobo and Robo are equipped with bullets that can knock the guards unconscious for a few seconds. Help the infamous Bonanza Bros. infiltrate a number of different locations ranging from banks to mansions to casinos and don't get caught!

Bonanza Bros Review

By Damo

Along with Gain Ground, Bonanza Bros is one of those Sega games that everyone seems to go potty about, but isn't actually that groundbreaking.

There's no denying that playing 'cat and mouse' around the various buildings, laying traps for the cops and getting away with the loot is good fun, the gameplay grows stale fairly quickly. The unusual graphics have helped the game age quite well, but there really isn't a great deal of challenge here and you will see everything there is on offer after a few hours.

As it stands Bonanza Bros is a decent little game that worked very well in the arcade but isn't really worth downloading on the VC. If you're a fan of the game (and I know there's a lot of you out there!) then you will obviously know what to expect, but to anyone who hasn't played this in the past, there are far more worthy games available at the moment.

Brilliant in two player for a few hours on a miserable sunday afternoon. The single player is good for a bit but becomes repetitive all too fast. Used to enjoy playing it with my brother when we were younger, robbing banks and seeing who could get to the roof first with the most loot. While competing for loot you would also be working together, closing doors in the faces of guards to buy your mate a few extra seconds and heading off to different areas to distract sleeping guards. The graphics due suit this game and are something you wont find in many games, the screenshots dont do it justice at all. A 4/5 star purchase for the two player mode, about a 2/3 for one player, there really is no drive to play unless your competing and co-operating with a friend.

Yep, a blast for 2 player. A bore for single player. Woth picking up for the silly fun alone, just don't expect anything too deep.

Master System version is WAY better, don't know why they messed with the screen size on the Mega Drive version.

Heh, I used to love this game =)
For the game play? Partially... but not really...
For the graphics? Not really...
For the depth? Hardly...
What then? The MUSIC =D OMG I still love the music in this game, it always brings a smile to my face. The sound effects are quite funny as well =P
Still, since it lacks replay value and is so short I can only give it a 3/5.

1P probably deserves the 3, or even the 2 (It can be really slow in 1P) but you can have such a good 4 star laugh in 2P :D

Good simple fun with a petty unique concept for its time. It really is a game meant for 2 players though.

Good music, too little environment interaction. A good 3-star game but no more.
