A tidier wardrobe

We can see Dreamlight Valley getting a looooot more clothes in future updates, and we're really happy about that, because the outfits are gorgeous. But our wardrobe is a nightmare. It's currently sorted by oldest first, and we can't change that, which means our newest outfits are always right at the bottom.

The ability to hide some of the stuff we think is ugly would be fantastic, too — we want to have a complete wardrobe, because we're completionists, but we don't want to actually see all those hideous Mickey Mouse T-shirts and that one really expensive candy skirt.

Socks

Yeah, the game doesn't have socks yet. We would like some socks. That is all.

Sprinklers

Watering plants is the most time-consuming thing in the game so far, and even though the watering can technically covers several spots at once, it's weirdly hard to get it right. We often end up trying to position our character just so to make the watering can actually cover all 8 spots at once, and that takes up a lot of time and effort!

Just... please. Let us have sprinklers.

A museum (or similar)

Sure, we're pulling directly from the Animal Crossing/Stardew Valley playbook here, but it would be wonderful to have something we could contribute to over time. The reason we love the museum, aquarium, and insectarium in Animal Crossing is because we made it exist. It gives us a reason to fish and explore other than filling out our own encyclopaedias, and it serves as beautiful, visible proof of our efforts.

Plus, Disney has loads of things it could use as inspiration for a museum. There are entire theme parks dedicated to Disney history!

New dialogue for the NPCs

We don't doubt that more dialogue is coming, but if we may be so bold as to suggest specifics, we'd love to see the characters in Dreamlight Valley comment on things more often. Right now, it's usually conversations that talk about the weather or the time of day — and we've heard them all. Perhaps instead they could tell you what they've been up to, or how their relationships with other characters are changing over time, just to make Dreamlight Valley feel like it's progressing in some way?

The ability to change abilities

25 Things Disney Dreamlight Valley Update
Image: Nintendo Life

When you befriend a character, you can choose their ability — Fishing, Foraging, Gardening, Digging, or Mining. However, it's not entirely obvious that you can't change this once you've chosen one, which could leave you in a pickle later on if you really need help with one of these things and everyone already has an ability.

We know that this is probably on purpose, but it would be nice to have the ability to change a character's specialty, even if it's somehow limited — it could cost Dreamlight to do, or it could be locked to a once a week thing, for example.

Better tools

Right now, you can improve most of the Royal Tools in Dreamlight Valley to make them destroy higher-level obstacles, but it doesn't make the tools better. They don't break things faster, or make fishing easier, or water more plants — and that's really what we'd like to do!

Here are our suggestions:

  • Watering Can upgrade — water more plants at once
  • Watering Can upgrade — add fertiliser to shorten plant growth time
  • Pickaxe upgrade — mine faster
  • Pickaxe upgrade — fewer strikes to destroy ore deposits and rocks
  • Shovel upgrade — dig faster
  • Shovel upgrade — dig a row instead of one hole
  • Camera upgrade — more poses and filters

House customisation

We can decorate our interiors, but our house exterior is stuck being yellow. Some people are not yellow house people, and we are those people. Changing the colour, the windows, and even the roof would make us feel much more at home!

Fish display

Another Animal Crossing idea that we'd love to see in DDV: Fish tanks!

We'd love to be able to display some of our catches of the day, and we'd love to have little pets in our house, even if they are just cold-blooded water-dwelling vertebrates that have no feelings towards us either way.

Stop throwing things everywhere

25 Things Disney Dreamlight Valley Update

When you have a companion character, they can help you out with whatever task you're doing by finding more of whatever you're gathering. This can be fruits, crops, ores, and other items. It's useful! At least, it would be... if they didn't keep tossing the items all over the place.

Currently, this means having to wait for them to go over to the ore deposit/crop/tree/whatever, pick up a thing, and then wait for them to throw it in a random direction. It's annoying, and it's honestly a bit rude. Just give it to us, Goofy!

Better radio

We have a little radio in our house in DDV. It plays about three different songs. The songs are nice, but we are going to toss the radio into the sea if we have to hear that cute little xylophone cover of How Far I'll Go again. Give us songs with vocals, or at the very least, more of a range. Perhaps we could even change radio stations — one could have the more rock-y songs from Disney's repertoire, and another could be the soft, lullaby ones.

Let more characters live together

25 Things Disney Dreamlight Valley Update

Why do Ariel and Eric live apart? Are they breaking up???? And can't Remy and Wall-E share a space, since they're both so tiny? They don't need all that house to themselves. Honestly, we have no idea why Remy, the smallest character so far, gets a MANSION to live in. Come on, man. Also, is Elsa really just... living in a cave? Scar we can understand, he's a LION. But Elsa, girl, don't you need a bathroom?

Those are just 25 of the things we'd like to see, but we have more (we had to cut it down to a nice, round number!), and we're sure that you have some thoughts and suggestions, too. Tell us in the comments below!
