Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa (Nintendo Entertainment System)

Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa

In this game, you control a little baby! The baby, called Upa, crawls through imaginary worlds, made of candy, chocolate, toys, and other things a baby would dream of. It has to traverse those platform levels to defeat or avoid various enemies. The way Upa deals with the enemies is quite unusual: he inflates them. When inflated, the enemies lose control and begin to float, until they finally explode.

Upa can use this to its advantage, riding the enemies while they are floating, kicking them to various directions, making them bounce off walls, using them as projectiles to hit other enemies, etc. Such strategies are necessary when dealing with the bosses you encounter. There are various items scattered through the levels, such as milk, which restores your health completely.

Status: OFLC rated

If you're familiar with Konami's Parodius series you might know Upa. He's one of Konami's more obscure characters - A baby that uses his rattle to attack enemies. The game was originally scheduled for release in at least the US - But Nintendo decided it "wasn't good enough" to see release.

Wow, there actually was a time when Nintendo really decided games weren't good enough? Where's that quality assurance nowadays with all teh Pop Corn Arcade games? ^^

Anyway: Technically it looks like crap (hate how the main character flashes so damn long, you can't see him for some seconds from time to time...), but it looks like it plays ok.

That's just a YouTube issue - The flickering stays, er, well, flickering in-game.

Wow. How much acid do you think the developers took when they came up with this?

You guys are ignorant, this game is excellent, one of the better NES games ever..... it was actually released in the USA under the "Mario Baby" title. Of course this was a bootleg. I did beat that game many times back in the days..... I will surely buy it if it gets released in america.

LOL
It really gets the issue how a Baby would act as a main hero of a VC title, but I don't think I'd buy it

What an odd-looking game! Still, I will support any import games on the VC if it means quality titles we missed in the past will become available to us.
