A spin-off of the successful Aleste series by Compile, M.U.S.H.A. takes the same top-down shooter mechanics of it's predecessors but stages the action in a bizarre universe that merges traditional Japanese lore with sci-fi mecha action.
Instead of commanding a ship, you will actually step into the cockpit of a ninja-styled mecha as you fight through the many levels in the game, with several option satellites that can be configured to use different formations.

This seems excessive. I don't know what better word to use for what I just viewed, but I don't think I would really enjoy playing this. I like shooters too, like, I enjoy R-Type, Gradius and Lords of Thunder. This just looks frustrating.

CuzinMike - The 'semi-sequel' was released on the Sega CD. It was called Dennin Aleste in Japan and Robo Aleste in the West. It's a lovely shooter but personally I prefer MUSHA.

This looks very similar to Spriggan on the Turbo Grafx CD, which is a fantastic shooter: easily one of the best on the system. I think it's from the same developers. I would love to get hold of this! Never owned a Mega Drive, so the VC is the perfect way to play some forgotten classics. Shame it will be in 50Hz...
